In a remarkable display of legal acumen and resilience, the University of Nairobi's Faculty of Law team has emerged victorious in the African Regional Rounds of the 2025 Price Media Law Moot Court Competition. This prestigious competition, organized by the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at the University of Oxford, challenges law students worldwide to engage with complex issues at the intersection of media law, human rights, and technology. The 2025 moot problem centered on environmental justice, facial recognition technology, and social media, reflecting pressing global concerns.

The African Regional Rounds, held virtually on February 24 and 25, 2025, due to funding constraints and travel-related issues, saw participation from numerous esteemed law schools across the continent. The University of Nairobi's team showcased exceptional skill and dedication, securing multiple accolades:

Winners of the African Regional Rounds: Demonstrating superior understanding and articulation of complex legal issues, the team clinched the top position, earning the honor to represent Africa in the International Rounds at Oxford. Best Applicants Memorial: Their written submissions for the applicant's side were recognized for outstanding legal research and persuasive argumentation. Best Respondents Memorial: Equally compelling were their submissions for the respondent's side, showcasing balanced proficiency. Best Oralist in the Finals: Emelda Okingo received this individual honor for her exceptional oral advocacy during the final round. Runners-Up Best Oralist in the Preliminary Rounds: William Philip was acknowledged for his impressive performance in the initial stages of the competition.
