Dr.Kariuki Muigua is the recipient of the 2021 Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practitioner in Kenya, awarded by the Nairobi Legal Awards. Dr. Muigua won the award at the Nairobi Legal Awards Dinner on Friday, November 26, 2021, beating several other ADR practitioners.

The distinguished Arbitrator is a certified law graduate, holds a PhD in Law from the University of Nairobi, and teaches law at the University Of Nairobi Faculty Of Law. He has published numerous publications on ADR and access to justice, the environment and natural resources. He is also the author of leading textbooks and hands-on guides on ADR, including Settling Disputes through Arbitration in Kenya, 3rd Edition (2017) and Resolving Conflicts through Mediation in Kenya (2013).

Dr. Muigua was also recognized as one of Kenya's top arbitrators in commercial, constitutional and environmental law by the 2021 edition of the Chambers Global Guide. He has also written books on arbitration which are referred to by courts and judges.

Dr. Muigua has been an advocate in the High Court of Kenya for over 30 years, and his law firm, Kariuki Muigua & Co. Advocates, specializes in environmental law and natural resource research and practice, ADR, constitutional law and commercial law litigation. He has also been appointed severally to arbitrate as a sole arbitrator in commercial disputes

He has also been called upon to give talks both internationally and locally. In August 2020 he was delivered a key note presentation on ‘Kenya and the Singapore Convention on Mediation’ at Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI) and in November 2020 he was invited to speak on Arbitration the East African Law Society Annual Conference on Arbitration

In January 2020, he was appointed as a member of the National Steering Committee for the Formulation of the ADR Policy
