Dr. Mercy Deche

Dr. Deche Mercy holds a PhD from the University of Nairobi and teaches at Mombasa Law Campus. She holds an LLM from London University specializing in Law & Policy of International Courts and Tribunals, Human Rights of Women, Child Rights, and Youth Justice – Family Law. She is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and previously served as a Commissioner & vice Chair of Judicial Service Commission (JSC) elected to represent the law society of kenya

Dr. Deche Mercy is a legal specialist with broad & established professional experience, including -

  1. legal technical and advisory assistance in rule of law, restorative justice, judicial integrity, access to justice, gender mainstreaming, marginalized groups and communities’ rights, gender-based violence and children’s rights.
  2. Established researcher, with proven experience in research and assessments on legal and policy issues, legal institutional assessments, as well as academic research, with numerous published research articles and conference papers focusing on judicial and legal issues as well as rule of law in Kenya, East Africa and beyond.
  3. Vast knowledge of the different judicial systems across Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as Commonwealth countries, stemming from successful implementation of various legal projects across the region, as well as legal interactions in the regions through conferences, training and capacity building.

She is also a renowned legal researcher, and accredited trainer and supervisor of legal doctoral candidates across the Africa region.
