Bio
Prof Robert Kibugi is a Kenyan environmental, natural resources, climate change and land lawyer who holds Doctor of Laws (LL.D) degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Master of Laws (LL.M – environmental law) from the University of Nairobi. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, since Admission to the Bar in October 2006.
Dr. Kibugi is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Nairobi
Prof. Kibugi is an expert and specialist in climate change law, environmental, land use, forestry, water resources governance, institutional design, public administration aspects of natural resources, legislative design and drafting, public policy, strategies and action planning.
Teaching
At the Faculty of Law, University of Nairobi, Prof Kibugi teaches undergraduate (Bachelor of Laws, LL.B) and Graduate classes at the Masters level and Ph.D seminars.
He also teaches a PhD Seminar at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Environmental and Peace Studies in the same University, on Environmental Law and Institutional Frameworks in the PhD Environmental Governance programme.
At the Faculty of Law, Prof Kibugi is a leading teacher for the Law of Torts, Land Use Law, Climate Change and the Law (both LL.B and LL.M), Law, Environment and Development, Soil Governance, Biodiversity Law. Prof Kibugi is a co-instructor on Soil and Land Governance, & Sustainable Biodiversity and Equality Course for the Women, Children and Nature Rights in Environmental Governance Programme (WCNREG).

Awards
Prof. Kibugi is a 2023 recipient of the Vice Chancellors Award of Excellence in Research ranking third at the Faculty of Law.
