Dr. Melissa Muindi and Dr. Stephen Machan were presented with the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) by the Dean, Prof. Winfred Kamau. Dr. Melissa Muindi: Pioneering Legal Research

Dr. Melissa Muindi, a distinguished Law Lecturer, Certified Mediator, and Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, was awarded a Ph.D. in Law. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the critical analysis of the legal regulation of outsourcing triangular employment relationships in Kenya.

Dr. Muindi's remarkable journey in academia and law is underscored by her current role as the LLB Program Lead at Strathmore Law School. She is also a dedicated trainer at the Strathmore Dispute Resolution Centre (SDRC). Furthermore, Dr. Muindi is a certified professional mediator and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, highlighting her extensive qualifications in the legal field.

However, her most prestigious achievement is the Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Nairobi. Through her comprehensive doctoral research, Dr. Muindi delved into the intricate nuances of the legal landscape governing triangular employment relationships in Kenya. Her work is not only academically significant but also has the potential to influence real-world policy and practices in the labor sector.

Dr. Stephen Machan: Championing Environmental Policy

Dr. Stephen Machan's remarkable journey towards a Ph.D. in Environmental Policy is nothing short of inspirational. Dr. Machan hails from the Rendille Community and is the first person from his community to attain this honor, breaking barriers and setting a precedent for future generations.

His doctoral dissertation, titled "Analysis of the sustainability of the livestock food system in Kenya: A case of camel milk value chain in Isiolo County," reflects his dedication to addressing critical environmental and sustainability issues. Dr. Machan's expertise in the field is well-established, with over a decade of experience in Management and Administration, coupled with more than 20 years of hands-on involvement in Agricultural extension in Dry land farming systems, encompassing production, productivity, and marketing.

Dr. Machan's influence extends beyond academia. He has contributed significantly as a food systems consultant in domestic, regional, and international trade. His participation in various forums focused on ecological conservation and the promotion of Value Chain Development and Value Addition (agro-processing) of agricultural products has been invaluable in enhancing food security and income generation for resource-poor farmers and households.

His dedication to participatory research in sustainable food systems and natural resource conservation underscores his commitment to improving food security, livelihoods, and wealth creation as a result of a sustainable food system. Dr. Machan's work has the potential to create a ripple effect in addressing global issues related to sustainability and food security.
